CORE VALUES

to ENCOUNTER.

to EQUIP.

as we

GATHER. GROW. GIVE. GO.

We ENCOUNTER with PASSION

We value HIS PRESENCE above all else. We desire to “Quench Not the Spirit.” In our pursuit to know Him, we are transformed into passionate sold out lovers. These desires grew Loft Church into an apostolic revival hub in southern Illinois with a global reach. The Lord has mandated us in this season to focus on community, missions, and equipping.

Our desire is to abide by ACTS 2:42-47 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

As a body, we desire more than a one time experience with God. We desire our relationship with Him to be a demonstration of His work alive in us.

  • 1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.

His power is demonstrated through us in miracles, signs, wonders, prophecy, healing and deliverance. You will find many who have been transformed by His power in our community and it is our desire to steward these gifts well as we equip the church to move in power.

We EQUIP with EXCELLENCE

We take what we do seriously and we have a lot of fun doing it!

We EQUIP first through facilitating atmospheres where the WORD OF GOD is honored, spoken, taught and experienced. Secondly, by developing HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, rooted in the WORD through DISCIPLESHIP in house. Thirdly, through RAISING UP and SENDING OUT those who have been discipled in house for the work of equipping the local and global church.

  • 2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

GATHER.

We gather in homes, buildings, and other places for the purpose of prayer, worship, teaching and enjoyment of being together as family.

COMMUNITY

We value authentic community. Revival is sustained through healthy communities. Healthy communities impact regions and ultimately the global church.

  •  1 Corinthians 1:10 I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

  • Hebrews 10:23-25 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

HONOR

We put others first. It’s not all about you! We consider the needs of others before our own. We value what each person brings to the body.

  • 1 Corinthians 12:22-27  In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

  • Ephesians 4:2-6 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

  • Romans 12:3-13 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you or just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

GROW.

THE BIBLE

We believe God is good. His Word is so true.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

GRACE

We believe your past is not your future. You’re welcome here.

Grace has been extended to us and therefore we extend it to each other.

  • John 1:11-17 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.'") And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

  • Luke 6:27-36 But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you. If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return. Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.

GIVE.

SACRIFICE

We give up the things we love for the things we love even more.

  • Ephesians 5:2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

  • Matthew 28:20 Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

IRRATIONAL GENEROSITY

We believe it is more blessed to give than to receive. Our desire is to care for the widows, the orphans, and the poor.

  • Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

  • Acts 20:35 And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

  • Acts 6:38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

  • ISRAEL-We bless and pray for Israel. Those who bless Israel will be blessed.

  • Genesis 12:3-7 I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants. At this, Abram fell face down on the ground. Then God said to him, “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations. I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them!  I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God.”

  • Psalm 115:9-18 O Israel, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield. You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield. The Lord has remembered us; he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron; he will bless those who fear the Lord, both the small and the great. May the Lord give you increase, you and your children! May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

GO.

CULTURAL RELEVANCE

We do what others won't to reach those who others don’t. We value reaching each other, our community, our nation and the nations. We desire that no one gets too “comfortable” inside the walls in which we meet.

  • 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.  To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

RISK TAKING

We’ve counted the cost and say YES to everything we believe the Holy Spirit leads us to do! We say no to good things in order to say YES to better things! We believe God is faithful to provide for every good work He has called us to do!

  • 2 Timothy 1:6-7 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

  • Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

  • Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
